Location Cajamarca
Cajamarca is the capital of the Cajamarca region, located in the northern highlands of Peru. It is 2720 m above sea level and has a population of about 135,000 people. Cajamarca has an mild, sunny and dry climate .
The main agriculture activity is the production of potatoes, barley, wheat, rice, maize, peas etc., the city is well-known for its cheeses and dairy products.
The ecological cultivated Physalis is located in the province San Pablo in region Cajamarca. Together with the local and regional government, AgroAndino is promoting the production and transformation of the Physalis to dried fruit for the exportation.
There are also several active mining sites in surrounding areas. The Yanacocha mine is the largest and most profitable gold mine in Latin America.
